Craft a Snowman From A Paint Stirring Stick or Paper

When my girls were very small, they brought all kinds of quirky, cute little snowman crafts home during the holidays. This funny little guy has been hanging on one of our Christmas trees for fifteen some odd years. He is made from a paint stirring stick. One of the children's preschool teachers probably picked up a dozen of these at a paint store where they give them away with a purchase. Some stores give them away without a purchase.
The little ones then painted the lower larger half with white paint and the shorter, upper half with black. The teacher then hot glued a few simple trims on and each child dipped his or her finger into pink paint to fingerprint the rosy cheeks!

How to cut and paste a paper snowman for a wintery construction paper scene? The diagram below will show kids just how... They will need the following supplies: scissors, white school glue, a ruler, a black marker, one sheet of 6" x 9" white drawing paper and an even larger or identically sized sheet of blue paper for the snowman to reside on, of course!
  1. Tear 6"x9" white drawing paper in the same way it is shown in the diagram below.
  2. Square all three pieces as depicted in the illustration.
  3. Cut circles by rounding off the corners freehand.
  4. You may use a ruler to find the center of the squares and fold these into triangles too help determine how much of the corners to remove if you feel the need to do this extra step.
  5. Paste the largest circle down on the construction paper first at it's bottom. Then the middle sized circle goes on top of the first and then the smallest is pasted on top of the middle to represent the
  6. snowman's head.
  7. Draw a hat, eyes, nose and mouth on to the snowman using a black marker.
  8. Add more details if you'd like: white glitter, cotton balls, etc...
